In the 1950s and 60s, the East African Safari Rally was reserved for completely Standard showroom cars and unsurprisingly the reliable VW Beetles did pretty well. Beetles won the event outright in 1954, 1957 and 1962. In 1960 Joginder Singh managed ninth overall. Motorsport Classic Poster.
